Kids & Horses Day Camps
Kids Love Horses and we love introducing young children to the joys and responsibilities of riding and caring for horses and ponies.
Children, ages 5 through 12, enjoy a one week horse day camp with plenty of hands on time with our safe, kind and well trained horses and ponies. Your child's safety is our #1 priority!
Each child receives plenty of one on one attention from our riding instructors and day camp counselors. Our day camps are designed to be an excellent introductory experience for young children who have never ridden or have limited beginner riding experience.
Summer Day Camps operate Mondays through Fridays, from 9:30am until 3:30pm. We offer after camp activities until 5:00pm during camp weeks.
Our Day Camps include these activities;
Learning about the different breeds, colors and markings of horses and ponies along with identifying the parts of horses is a great starting point for our campers. Our campers enjoy their own classroom, a great place for learning and working on arts and crafts projects.
Caring for a horse or pony, including grooming, feeding and handling. Generally, depending upon the abilities of the campers, two campers will work together on grooming, feeding and caring for one horse. Daily horse care is a big project!
Daily Riding Lessons Campers will have a daily riding lesson, learning basic position and how to steer and handle their horse/pony. Each camper will be accompanied by a Camp Counselor in Training (CIT), and all lessons will be taught by an adult professional instructor.
Arts and Crafts Campers assemble a notebook over the course of the week to store all of their daily classroom handouts, quizzes, and artwork projects.
Gardening and Trail Walks RockMeadow is known for its beautiful gardens and open spaces. Our Campers enjoy their own garden space, giving them the opportunity to plant and/or harvest flowers and veggies from the garden. RockMeadow is made up of 38 acres, 28 of which have been designated as open space agricultural land as well as wetlands.
Pizza Party and Sprinkler Break! On Thursday, the kids can change into their swim suits and flip flops and enjoy running through our arena sprinklers set up on a lawn area. Afterwards our campers, CIT'S and Instructors enjoy a pizza party before heading back to regular camp activities.
Camper's Horse Show and Riding Demonstration On the final day of Summer Day Camp, our campers will demonstrate what they have learned by participating in a Horse Show. We welcome parents, family members and friends to come and watch the campers in their first horse show. Upon completion of the Show, each camper will receive a Certificate of Acheivement along with a Horse Show Ribbon.
